Course Contents

This course aims to discuss political, social, cultural and economic transformations in the 19th century in their relation with the formation of the Republican Turkey and focuses on the modernization process in the early republican period until 1945.

Completion of A1 level in the English language according to CEFR. Alphabet, numbers, and pronunciation. Basic vocabulary and grammar to communicate in daily life through reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Graphic expression of structural characteristics of objects in various sizes. Different object studies. Supporting visual perception. Applied studies for improving knowledge of academic pattern and ability of creation.

What is design? The principles of design. Source research. Gathering information in order to support the design development processes. Improving the skills on archiving and communicating information. Developing personal and visual data. Improving the ability for comprehending the aesthetic elements such as points, lines, spots, tones, colors and textures.

All basic information about fiber, thread, fabric types. Basic information required and considered by textile or fashion designer in the course of design.

Explanation of communication, explanation of language and its relationship with the thinking proces, culture, society and literature; written and oral communication; main characterisrics of the Turkish language; phrases and types of narration; expressional failure.

Political, social and cultural development of Turkey since WWII. Transition to multi-party system, social transformation in 1960s and 1970s, as well as the demographical change, industrialization and new social movements. The coup d'état of 1980 and its aftermath, political and social polarization in 2000s.

Completion of A2 level according to CEFR. Communicative skills to express and understand a wide range of familiar topics through reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
