Işık University School of Foreign Languages (SFL) Elective Foreign Languages Programme is committed to teach Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish as a second foreign language and Turkish Sign Language according to the demands of the students in all undergraduate programs.
The Elementary level classes in second languages, 1101 and 1102 are opened every semester and offered to students in all departments as elective courses.
The intent of the EL Programme is to deliver Isik University undergraduate students to Basic-User level (A1.1-A1.2) in target language.
The intent of the EL Programme is to teach basic level of the foreign language to Isik University undergraduate students who study at the Şile campus. All courses are considered as electives, and they can be taken two semesters: fall/spring; but some courses are also offered in summer semester.
The elective foreign languages are only available in elementary level (A1), divided into 1101 and 1102 courses; it means if the students intend to reach the level A1, they must study both courses together: 1101 & 1102. The sections are composed of 4-hour classes a week, total 56 hours for the entire semester. This consists of 4x 50 minutes lesson periods, generally separated over two days. The ELP is designed to help students develop the basic (A1.1/A1.2) foreign language skills. All skills are practiced in class throughout the semester. The ELP course curriculum, syllabi, materials, and assessments are designed by the ELP instructors and specifically designed to meet the needs of students.
